Women's Community Fund

Together, we can accomplish great things.

In 2000, five women sitting around a kitchen table took this message to heart. These community minded women had read about "giving circles" which had become very successful in other communities, and decided to use the same concept to benefit charities in and around our community. A "giving circle" consists of a group of people who pool their charitable donations and decide together how to use the money to benefit the causes that they care most about. The organizational committee developed a partnership with Central Kansas Community Foundation to provide administrative support, and worked diligently to find other women in the community to join their efforts. Today, nearly forty women proudly participate.

The mission of Women's Community Fund (WCF) is to provide an avenue for area women to engage in philanthropy, creating a fund for projects that benefit citizens in the central Kansas area. Each year, participating women make a $500 contribution to the fund. Then, with the help of Central Kansas Community Foundation, they accept grant applications from local charities. At an annual meeting, the group gathers to vote on which projects to fund.

Women's Community Fund welcomes any woman to join the group. New members can join from January through June of each year. If you or someone you know would like more information, please contact the Foundation at 316-283-5474.
